Gastroenteritis

Ailments in whichever form is not very comfortable. One will thank god for good health only when inflicted by any disease. Dictionary puts disease as an abnormal medical condition.
Truly said ! It can be a sprain, headache, tooth pain, cold n cough, running nose or even GAS.

I have seen big uncles complain of Gastric disorders when they run their fingers over their huge round tummy. Also after a heavy and sumptuous meal when they take the luxury to release those trapped bubbles with a deep sigh !!!

A day full of oil and potatoes and I find myself in great discomfort. For those who have not experienced it, let me say - Its exactly not as simple as they say.
Its like some ball is trapped in your throat.Like you feel heavily dehydrated but just wont be able quench your thirst even after gulping bottles over bottles of water. You feel like puking to get rid of everything but nothing comes out.

I struggled with it for one whole night and finally in the morning I decided to pay a visit to our medical center in the campus.

So next time you eat more of potatoes, just think of all theeeeeeeeeeeeese

Subramaniapuram - A must watch one

It's not everyday that one gets to see a movie which will leave you in thoughts for the next few days. That's just what happened to me after this one. I am simply not able to get rid of it from my conscious mind from the moment I finished it.

I started watching the movie thinking that it would be another Paruthiveeran wrapped up in a slightly different story line but I was wrong. This one is unique, more precisely its just incredible.

Its not a love story, its not a fun go friendship movie, not one which is based on the ugly face of country politics; but it's just the combination of all. It captures the depths of human emotions to its fullest.

Hats off to the debutant Sasikumar not just for his direction but also for his beautiful cast in the movie.

Compulsive Prohibition !!!

Being among pals constantly fussing over minute changes in inches and kilos, am quite familiar with most of the so called disturbing phrases....Body Mass Index (BMI), Waist-to-Height ratio, percent body fat, lean body mass etc...But never I thought that I would be a victim of the recuperative measures; not that I am all fit and fine, but I just don't care (In fact the snacks and fries around are so tempting that I would prefer ignoring these deadly thoughts)

So when I say that I am a victim, I don't mean that I am forced to resist my tempted tongue rather the food outlets have stopped selling them !!!

Well, I work for an MNC notoriously popular for it's crazy policies and the most recent of that forbids any cafeteria within the campus to sell fried food...And that includes my all time favorite lays :-(
Goshhhhh....Am I in a rehabiliation centre???????????

Domestic crime...the rising epidemic.

So frens, am back and now in Kolkata for work.Enjoying the solitude here...thats the way I console myself for staying alone. I have started loving work on weekends coz the only other option left is to talk to the guest house walls and browse through all the TV channels which seem to show the same thing each day.

And since I have ample time left for myself after work... I read everything that comes handy.

Of late there are some gruesome news taking the highlights in every media. And you see the oldies skipping all their favorite soaps just to know the happenings and status of the investigations going around these crimes.

Statistics shows that a crime against women is committed every three minutes in India.

The news that kept disturbing many for the past few days is that of a 14 year old girl Aarushi who was brutally murdered at home by her own father. Speculations about the reasons for the same are many. All the TV channels, News papers, even the Orkut community is flooding with ugly criticisms against the malignant parent child relationship that took its way to such a shocking crime. Despite the govt bringing so many laws to protect the female community in India, crimes continue to happen lest can the officials peep into each house and ensure that there are no psychopaths living there.

And India is not the only country affected. There was another incident which was even more unacceptable which happened in Austria... A father confesses to holding his daughter captive for 24 years and parenting 7 children from her !!!

Its no longer just female foeticide or dowry deaths that kills females... Where can a girl take refuge when her home itself becomes a threat for her???

A small note....which made all the difference

It was a usual Thursday...except for a few sweet calls from pals in the early morning...
Unusually I was not confused abt the plans for the day ....neither was I excited abt what the day had in store for me....
somehow managed to get my lunch packed and set out to office at 10 in the morning ( yesterdays late night work being the culprit....)
Everything was the same but for the silent thought running in my mind that I am crossing one more milestone in my life...
My fone was silent...I made sure that the battery is in place..(.after i lost my battery case...it kept falling down every now nd then...)
There were quite huge number of mails addressed to me wishing me and reminding me that am growing older....
I refrained from all those thoughts and set back with my work....

it was tea time when the courier lady came to my desk with a big bouquet of beautiful flowers...and that made all the difference

Human mind is in fact very fragile...however hard or practical you portray yourself, a small gesture from a person next to your heart will make you jump with joy....or at times... sulk in dismay....

Life Abroad ....

My enthu din last a day and my blog went to a long and deep slumber.... but that doesnt mean that I was sleeping as well....

In fact these were the days when a number of unexpected happenings found its way to me...
I found myself shifting places.....meeting so many wonderful people....exploring new things....

so here I am trying to renovate my blog page....

Of late I am realising that I am getting used to the UK culture...Its truly said that ...."when you are in Rome be as a Roman"....
Be it Rome or anywhere else....once you start living there... u start imbibing the culture within you...good or bad ...u will do it knowingly or unknowingly....
When you knowingly absorb the good things...there lies your ability....

I am now in Swindon for the last 2 months.... my maiden stay abroad...and its wonderful...
Staying in a developed country brings with it a lot of sophisticated routines....which are totally new to you...

You get used to muffins, donuts,sandwiches,yogurts....(thats really hard for me...but in this case am lucky ... I have a kitchen with full liberty)...
You start greeting people with a good morning on your way to office....(I cant dream of me saying good morning to a milkman in India....will that make a fool of myself...)
You c dogs getting in everywhere ....from trains....to restaurants...to buses...
You find more pubs than the restaurants....
On a lazy saturday you start out for lunch at 3 and to your dismay you find all the shops closed....
You start acknowleding the departmental store keepers and the bus drivers...

On top of all these there is a great effort put in to twist and turn your english to suit the british style making it worser....

Great britain is infact great in its history...people here value their culture and their history...
All the monuments and soveriegns speak volumes of its history...

It is a place where a newspaper boy and a doctor is treated with the same respect ... each job has its value and people here do their job with dedication... they take up the job which they love and they do it with utmost interest...
There is no fight for a hi-tech jobs...a job here is just a job which brings money and satisfaction when its completed...

Time has its value...we dont find buses or trains running much late...

The oldies would love their old age.... they are treated with due respect...and are provided with all basic things apart from the regular pocket money from the govt...

this and much more ....its a different world here....

But...still you feel at home when you c ur familiar chat stalls....street dogs....noisy horns....autowallahs screams...crows and cows anywhere and everywhere....overcrowded buses...semi tarred roads with lots of holes....
Thats where you belong and thats where you can be yourself....

Yes ...I am missing my place....my people...
